The annual “Rainbow” Inter-Collegiate Cultural Competition, hosted by Sarada Kurup College of Education & Research, Ghansoli, is a much-awaited event that showcases the talents of students from various colleges. Held on 21st December 2024, the competition aimed to promote holistic student development. This year’s themes—“Rhythms of Maharashtra” for the Group Dance competition and “Colors of Teaching” for the Personality Contest—highlighted the importance of cultural expression and the essential qualities of educators.
In alignment and acknowledging the vision and mission of the institution as ‘the All-round development of the student teachers, the event was held on 21st December 2024.
The main objective of the competition was
• To appreciate and recognise the multi talents of student teachers
• To develop an artistic mind-set in student teachers.
• To provide a platform to exhibit their skill
• To develop various traits in student teachers.
The dance competition celebrated Maharashtra's vibrant cultural heritage, with performances that included Lavani, Koli, Gondhal, and Dholki, as well as fusion dances blending traditional and modern styles. The Personality Contest aimed to highlight the qualities of an effective educator, focusing on leadership, communication skills, empathy, and creativity. The contest had five rounds:
The “Rainbow” competition was a resounding success, highlighting the importance of both cultural expression and the personal traits required for effective teaching. The competition provides a platform for student teachers to showcase their talents beyond the traditional academic setting. This encourages the development of a well-rounded personality, fostering confidence, creativity, and a sense of accomplishment. The event is a direct reflection of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), which encourages educational practices that promote multidisciplinary learning and creative expression. Student teachers who participate in such events gain hands-on experience in balancing academic learning with creative expression, which is critical to the development of well-rounded educators in line with NEP 2020’s vision.
Women Development Cell Committee of Sarada Kurup College of Education and Research, in collaboration with Majlis Manch, organized an intra-college competition on the topic "Concerning Rights for Women++" on 16th Nov 2024. Majlis, established in 1991, has been dedicated to providing innovative legal practices for defending women's rights. Their agenda focuses on offering quality legal representation, changing mindsets through advocacy, and promoting gender-just ideologies via campaigns and interventions.
The event featured two categories of expression: Verbal and Non-verbal. The Verbal expressions included skits, speeches, songs, slogans, and dance performances, while the Non-verbal category showcased collages, posters, and installations. Students actively participated, presenting their talents with commendable expressions, which made the event a resounding success.
Krupali Pawar and Soumy Dsa were awarded first place in the non-verbal and verbal expression categories, respectively. The event concluded with great satisfaction and was celebrated as a huge success, highlighting the creativity and passion of the students involved.
Students of Sarada Kurup College of Education and Research participated in the competition on Display of Creative teaching aid/ idea/games conducted by K.J.Somaiya College of Education, Vidya Vihar on 15th December 23. S.Y.B.Ed students participated and displayed various teaching aid and games on topics of different subjects in the competition.
The students bagged the 3rd prize in creative teaching aid display!!
RAINBOW 2023
Cultural Fests are obviously the most awaited patch of college life and no student wants to overlook them. ”RAINBOW” 2023 our inter collegiate cultural fest was conducted with great pomp and joy on 11th February 2023 . A total of eight colleges participated in the dance and poster competitions based on the theme “EK BhArAT ShrEShThA BhArAT”.
UDAAN Festival
On 8th February, 2023, the Department of Life Long Learning and Extension, Mumbai University conducted the Annual Intercollegiate Street Play and Posture Competition. More than 18 colleges had participated. Our college won the Consolation Prize in the Street Play Competition on the theme – “Online Education During the Pandemic”. Our Student Miss. Ankita Waghmare won the second prize in Creative Writing Competition.
UDAAN Festival
On 31st January, 2019, the Department of Life Long Learning and Extension, Mumbai University conducted the Annual Intercollegiate Street Play and Posture Competition. More than 18 colleges had participated. Our college won the First Prize in the Street Play Competition on the theme – “Influence of Social Media”.
District level annual sports meet
The Annual District Level sports are an event ,where B.Ed. colleges of Navi Mumbai and Raigad District, participate with great zeal, to bring home the winning cup. The event this year was hosted at Manjara college of Education and Research Airoli. Our students faced stiff competition and came home as winners of various events.
