Today, International Yoga Day was celebrated at Sarada Kurup College of Education and Research. The guest speaker for the event was Ms. Pooja Sharma, an alumni of the college and a renowned yoga instructor. Ms. Sharma enlightened the students on the significance of yoga in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and conducted a session where she demonstrated various yoga asanas.
World AIDS Day, observed on 1 December every year since 1988,is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.
Students of Sarada Kurup College of Education and Research observed this day by conducting special assembly in which students disseminated information about AIDS. They spoke on the meaning of AIDS, myths and misconceptions about AIDS, ways to prevent AIDS and also the empathetic attitude needed towards the AIDS affected people. The students prepared and wore red ribbons which symbolises awareness and support for the people living with HIV.
Students also participated in the Intra collegiate 'Poster with Slogan making competition' on AIDS awareness.The posters made by students were creative and innovative. The world AIDS day was observed with thoughtfulness by the student teachers.
International Literacy Day is celebrated on September 8 every year to promote the importance of literacy for dignity and human rights, and a literate and sustainable society.
Students of S.Y.B.Ed. celebrated this day by conducting awareness session on 'Menopause' for female cleaners of the Institution. The session included topics like meaning, symptoms and measures for menopause. Students also made them aware of the healthy habits to be followed to remain fit and active after the age of 40.
World Ozone Day or International day for the preservation of Ozone Layer( 16th September), is meant to raise awareness about the importance of the ozone layer & how its depletion is leading to global warming & climate change accross the world.
The Science club of Sarada Kurup College of Education and Research conducted special assembly to observe the world ozone day. Importance of ozone layer, ways to protect the ozone layer was discussed through PPT. Students also took oath to protect the ozone layer.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2023
SARADA KURUP COLLEGE OF EDUCATION & RESEARCH IQAC Organized “Empowering Women with Financial Literacy” on the occasion of International Women’s Day On 4th March 2023. The Resource Person was Ms. Sushma Das ( Certified Financial Education Trainer) expert trainer from SEBI, a government of India undertaking. The idea was to help our students to effectively manage a variety of financial skills such as personal finance management, budgeting and investing.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
As a part of International Women's Day celebration, 8th March, 2021, our college conducted a virtual interactive session on "Social Empowerment of Women". Adv. Nikhil Sanjay - Rekha Adsule (Ph.D. research scholar, IIT Delhi) was invited as a Recourse Person for the event.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
The International Yoga day was celebrated to usher in peace, harmony, happiness and success. A well renowned yoga expert Smt Shubra Malik gave us a talk on the importance of yoga in day to day life and also performed basic yogic exercises for keeping oneself fit and healthy.
WORLD NATURE CONSERVATION DAY
To inculcate proper social sensitivity towards the environment in our students, we observed the “World Nature Conservation Day”. We went for a rally within the vicinity, of the college and planted saplings, in and around the college. The drive was followed by an encouraging talk by environmentalist Shri Charu Chandra Upreti on aligning ourselves with nature and keeping the world green.
Women’s Day Debate on Gender Equality
B.Ed students of Sarada Kurup College of Education and Research celebrated the ‘International Women’s Day’ on 8th March 2019. It was an occasion for the members of the S.K. College family to pause for a moment and reflect on ourselves, to appreciate how much has been done and what more needs to be done in the field of gender equality. To celebrate the day the faculty organized a debate for the students. The topic for the debate was, ‘Are women really empowered today?’. The debate was an eye-opener for some students who were not aware of the different issues that women face in their day-to-day lives and how they have to strive twice as hard as men have to achieve equal treatment of some kind.
