On February 8, 2025, the Placement Cell of Sarada Kurup College of Education & Research hosted an expert session for S.Y. B.Ed students, led by Ms. Janhavi Gadre, a distinguished alumna of the college. The session was dedicated to exploring the IGCSE Board, delving into its curriculum design and assessment structure. Ms. Gadre drew from her own experiences to shed light on the global operations of the IGCSE system, emphasizing the importance of effective curriculum planning and assessment strategies.
The session served as a valuable resource for students seeking to navigate the complexities of the IGCSE system, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of international education frameworks and the potential career pathways they offer. A Financial Literacy Awareness Programme was organized by Sarada Kurup College of Education and Research, aimed at equipping future teachers with essential financial knowledge and practical tools for managing personal finances. The programme was designed to help student teachers understand crucial aspects of financial planning, including budgeting, saving, investing, and managing financial goals. The event was organized in collaboration with CSAI Global, authorised by Bombay Stock Exchange, Metropolitan Stock Exchange and a few leading fund houses. The resource person for the programme was Mr. Omkar Parab, SEBI Certified SMART corporate trainer. The sessions covered a wide range of topics, such as SEBI, Indian Economy, creating a budget, understanding investment options, and using technology for financial planning. The programme was significant as it empowered B.Ed. students not only to manage their own finances better but also to integrate financial literacy into their teaching practices. In a world where financial decisions are integral to personal and professional success, providing teachers with financial knowledge ensures they can educate future generations about responsible financial practices. This initiative aims to enhance students' practical life skills, improve their financial well-being, and foster a culture of financial responsibility in classrooms, thereby contributing to overall societal growth.
Sarada Kurup College of Education & Research, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Millennium City, Vashi, organized an awareness session on brain stroke on 30th January 2025. The session was aimed at teachers and student-teachers of the Tilak Group of Institutions, with the objective of enhancing their knowledge about brain stroke, its causes, symptoms, prevention, and emergency response.
The session was conducted by Dr. Ashok Hande, a distinguished neurosurgeon currently serving as a consultant at Fortis Hospital and Apollo Hospital, Vashi. Dr. Hande provided an in-depth understanding of brain strokes, including their types, warning signs, risk factors, and long-term implications. He highlighted the FAST approach (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to act), emphasizing the urgency of immediate medical intervention.
Additionally, Dr. Hande shed light on preventive measures, such as maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing stress, controlling blood pressure and diabetes, and recognizing early symptoms. He also discussed advancements in stroke treatment and rehabilitation, offering valuable insights for both personal and professional awareness.
The session was highly interactive and engaging, with participants eagerly asking questions and sharing their experiences. Dr. Hande’s ability to explain complex medical concepts in a simple and relatable manner made the session highly impactful.
The session proved to be an informative and thought-provoking experience, equipping educators with crucial knowledge on brain health and emergency preparedness.

On 30th November 2024, Sarada Kurup College of Education & Research hosted a deeply impactful Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Workshop led by Ms. Rajrakhi Mhatre Project Officer of the Mumbai based NGO, Rubaroo Breaking Silence Foundation.
This workshop not only raised awareness but also empowered participants with the tools and knowledge to be vigilant and supportive in combating child abuse.
Sarada Kurup College of Education and Research, Ghansoli, hosted a workshop on "Effective Classroom Management" on November 23, 2024. The resource person, Mrs. Ruby Verghese, Principal of Tilak Public School, Nerul, shared her expertise with F.Y. B.Ed and S.Y. B.Ed students.
Mrs. Verghese, an experienced educator with over a decade of experience, emphasized the importance of lifelong learning. Her interactive session provided valuable insights, equipping students with essential skills for effective classroom management
The workshop concluded with overwhelming success, receiving positive feedback from participants. The college appreciates Mrs. Verghese's contribution to shaping the future educators.
The Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled "Building Interactive and Engaging Learning Environment" was successfully conducted online from 3rd to 10th August 2024 by Sarada Kurup College of Education & Research. The program aimed to equip educators with the skills necessary to create dynamic learning environments. With 117 participants, including principals, teacher educators, teachers, and students, the program featured a series of sessions led by expert resource persons, each focusing on various aspects of interactive and engaging teaching practices.
Key Highlights:
* AI in Communication: Ms. Jigna Koyani introduced the use of AI, specifically Chat GPT, in enhancing communication and interaction in educational settings.
* Moodle for Assessments: Ms. Divya Belchada provided insights into utilizing Moodle as a comprehensive assessment tool, including creating quizzes and assignments.
* Interactive E-Content: Dr. Cindrella D’Mello focused on tools like EduCandy and EduPuzzle.com, guiding participants in creating engaging e-content.
* Google Sites: Dr.Agnes D’Costa demonstrated the creation of interactive websites using Google Sites, highlighting its integration with Google Workspace.
* Educational Videos and AI: Ms. Divya Belchada and Ms. Jigna Koyani concluded the program with sessions on creating educational videos for YouTube and preparing lesson plans using AI.
This FDP empowered participants with practical knowledge and tools to enhance their teaching methods, making the learning experience more engaging and interactive for students.

The seminar had illuminated the transformative potential of inclusive education as outlined in the National Education Policy 2020. Through insightful discussions and presentations, we had explored the principles, Challenges and strategies essential for empowering every Learner, regardless of their background, abilities, or differences.
The distinguished speaker for the event was Dr. Lalitha Dhareshwar, a retired physicist from the prestigious Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. Dr. Dhareshwar has a wealth of experience in high-power lasers and laser plasmas.
Currently serving as the President of the Indian Women Scientists’ Association, Dr. Dhareshwar is actively involved in organizing workshops, refresher courses, and training programs for both college students and faculty members.
The talk by Dr. Lalitha highlighted the crucial role that effective communication plays in science education. She emphasized the need for clear and engaging communication to make complex scientific concepts accessible to a wider audience, including students and the general public.
On 19/01/2024 a national level webinar was conducted on the topic" sustainable Energy" unleashing the power of green initiatives in campus ecosystems". The speaker of the day was Mr. Anirudh Chaoji, an ecologist and Director of Ran Mangli Foundation. The webinar was an eye opener as it gave us an insight into various simple but effective techniques of environmental sustainability . It made us realise the need and importance of our initiatives in developing green campuses. By doing so we contribute to environmental sustainability, promote energy and foster a culture of rapidly changing world.
A national webinar was conducted on the topic “Redesigning Curriculum and Pedagogy in School, A holistic, Integrated, Enjoyable, and Engaging Experience in alignment with NEP Policy 2020” on 20th May 2023. The seminar was conducted by Mrs. Tuti Sandhya, Resource Person MGNCRE, Hyderabad. The webinar gave us an insight into the NEP Policy’s vision for the dire need to restructure the curriculum to bring about a holistic development of students.
The Year culminated with fruitful accomplishment of the goals we had set forth in the beginning of the academic session and we are filled with a sense of pride and achievement.
A certificate course on Personality Development and Creative Expression was conducted by Ms. Ponni Iyer, Teacher Educator and Softs Skills Trainer from 17th to 29th April, 2023. The students were engaged in fruitful experience of being aware of their personality by knowing and understanding oneself.
An awareness session on Importance of Mental Health was conducted by Dr. Aparna Deshmukh, Neuropsychiatrist and Sexologist, Vashi on 15th April 2023. The meaning, causes, and strategies to eliminate stress was discussed. The session guided the student teachers to be mentally fit through simple and practical techniques.
A seminar on the topic “Seeking ‘Gendered Begumpura’, Constitution, Constitutional Morality and Contemporary challenges” was conducted by Adv. Nikhil Adsule on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanthi on 13th April 2023. The resource person could stimulate the thought processes of the students on pertinent issues on gender sensitivity and its relevance, in terms of the constitution.
A workshop on Action Research was conducted by Dr. Swarnalata Harichandan, Principal of H.B. B. Ed College of Education, Vashi on 6th April 2023. The students were oriented on importance of action research in the B.Ed. course and also the methods and procedure to conduct action research.
A Webinar on Contemporary Trends in E- Learning was conducted by Dr. Agnes D’Costa, Associate professor of Pushpanjali College of Education, Vasai on 31st March 2023. The highlights of the workshop were Artificial Intelligence in Education, and preparing online resources for interactive learning.
A workshop on “Training the Teachers” for using low-cost teaching aids in science was conducted by Dr. Meena Sharma chairperson, of Vigyan Setu Foundation, a Government of India undertaking on 25th March 2023. The students enjoyed the workshop thoroughly as they gained hands on experience on topics covering mechanics, optics, and acoustics.
SARADA KURUP COLLEGE OF EDUCATION & RESEARCH IQAC organized INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR ON THE OCCASION OF NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY. The Topic was "ROLE OF TEACHER IN DEVELOPING SCIENCE L I TERACY AND RESEARCH INTHE 21st CENTURY" on 28th February 2023.
"World Population Day" is observed every year on July 11. It is celebrated to increase awareness among people towards population issues. It was first started in the year 1989 by the United Nations Development Programme and has been celebrated since then. This year theme is "A world of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all - Harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all".
The B.Ed. student teachers of S. K. College of Education and Research, Ghansoli organized a Seminar presentation regarding various topics of population. In groups they spoke on several topics and issues caused due to overpopulation such as problems created by overpopulation like unemployment, shortage of food, low per capital income, problem of capital formation, high pressure, social problems, economic insecurity, social insecurity, increases pressure on land and environment degradation. The student teachers were divided in to six groups to cover the entire area of the topic. Each group presented different topics of Population issues.
An "Art and Craft workshop" was organized in the college to develop the artistic talents of B.Ed. Trainees. The workshop was organized on 16th July, 2022 by Pidilite Group. The resource persons for the programme were Mrs. Vidya Sanjay Angholkar (Fevicryl Professional certified teacher of Pidilite Industries Ltd.) having 25 years of Experience and Ms. Nalini Wadke. The activities selected for the workshop were Designer Rakhi Making and Eco-Friendly Bag. The workshop commenced with an official welcoming by Cultural In charge Ms. Ankita Waghmare followed by felicitation of resource persons by the principal. Student teachers worked in groups and completed their activities with in stipulated time. It was a great experience for the student teachers. All the participants got the opportunity to display their talents.
In collaboration with MCES College of Education (Mumbra), our college conducted a National Webinar on the topic “Recourse to the Constitutional Ethics in the Age of Inequalities”. The talk by Advocate Nikhil Adsule gave us an in depth insight into the Constitutional framework and its impact on various areas of socio-economic life of the Indian Society.
A lively active and participatory workshop was conducted by our Management i.e. Mrs. Smita Kurup. The main motive of this workshop was to make our Student Teachers aware of how important inclusive education is in the present times where the society is multi-cultural, multi-lingual and includes students from all kinds of backgrounds. A lot of creative techniques was used such as picture matching, picture recognition, naming objects, and different visual memory games. A talk was given by Mrs. Smita Kurup on “Learning Disability” and also understand the needs of Physically and Mentally challenged students.
Our students participated in many activities and games which were beneficial in the process of inclusive education.
Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells anywhere in the body. Cancer if not diagnosed early can lead to death. Objectives of the cancer awareness is to help people recognize the early signs and symptoms of cancer, thus enabling them to seek treatment at an early stage. With such an objective 'cancer awareness ' Programme was conducted in Anjuman Islam's Akbar Peerbhoy College of Education Vashi, in coordination with all the B.Ed colleges of Navi Mumbai on 29th August 2018. The program was organised by Rotary Lions Club, who gave us an interactive session on cancer awareness by Ms. Jayakrishnan. She explained the types of cancers, their treatment, and precautionary steps.
Our college organized a one day state level workshop on ‘NAI TALIM” Experiential Learning in collaboration with MGNCRE, Department of Higher Education, Government of India.
The faculty organized an orientation programme, for the F.Y. B.Ed. students; the students were given a bird’s eye view on the B. Ed. Course, the academic and co-curricular activities that are conducted throughout the year. This was followed by a welcome party organized by the seniors with games and snacks
A team of our students and faculty conducted a workshop on Effective Communication and spoken English for the faculty of Tilak Scholar’s Academy Murbad.
The F.Y. B.Ed. extended their community services at ‘Prem Daan’ Airoli ,an Institution for the destitute and abandoned.
